The Chadron State ladies end the college rodeo season with a second place team finish at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper.
Backed by top five finishes from Shelby Winchell (2nd overall) in goat tying and Amy Deichert (5th overall) in barrels CSC would score 472 ½ overall points.
Winchell completed her four go-rounds in the goat tying in 25.9 seconds with runs of 6.6, 6.3, 6.5 and 6.5 seconds. The Scottsbluff native placed among the top six entries in all four sessions. It’s also her second career top five finish in goat tying.
Central Arizona College took the top spot with a score of 635 points.
This marks the third straight year the CSC cowgirls have finished in the top eight of the team standings at the CNFR.
This year’s second place finish the ladies highest in school history.
Rounding out the Chadron State CNFR participants, both Amy Tierney (16th overall) and Shaylee Hance (20th overall) finished in the top twenty for goat tying.
While Katie Loughran finished 21st in barrel racing.
Rounding out the Chadron State list Russel Hipke took 29th for the CNFR.
While Eastern Wyoming Community college wrapped up their rodeo season with a 31st place finish in team roping from Derek Weinreis and Levi O'Keefe along with a 26th place finish in team roping by Trey Yates.
