Local High School Athletes Qualify For Nationals In Rodeo
The National High School Rodeo Finals is coming up and several local athletes punched tickets with strong state finishes this past weekend.
Leading the list, Scottsbluff native Libby Winchell.The Rookie of The Year for the state of Nebraska will be participating in goat tying. She enters nationals as the top goat tier in the state of Nebraska.
Meanwhile Charmayne Strong will be in multiple events she will be in goat tying and pole bending.
The Rushville cowgirl enters nationals as the top pole bender in the state.
While on the boys side of nationals, Cody Nye of Alliance heading to nationals ranked number one in the state in tie down.
Joining Nye at nationals will be Cody Darnell in tie down and team roping,
Seth Cumpton and Cash Talamamantez in cutting,
And Danny Manning of Hemingford.
Both Kalane Anders of Bayard for steers and Madison Haun of Torrington for goat tying earned alternate spots.
Both could be going to nationals if a spot becomes available.
The 2014 High School National Finals Rodeo is set for Rock Springs and will run from July 13th to 19th.
