Gering's Public Works Committee holding off any action on 10th Street Zoning

Posted: Updated:
A round table discussion was held Wednesday night by the Public Works Committee to talk about proposed changes to 10th and 7th Street in Gering.

Earlier this year, it was announced that the city was attempting to rezone that corridor from Heavy Industrial/ Manufacturing to Business and Highway Commercial.

Many business owners voiced their opposition to the move, and one proposal that was released was not accurate. Council member Larry Gibbs says they need to take a step back and reassess the process.

"Basically, I want to see us go back to square one," says Gibbs. "And for the time being, I would like to see us continue the old process beyond the next planning commission and council meetings and give some time for a few things that do develop that are in the works up there."

City Administrator Lane Danielzuk says that the public hearing that was scheduled for July 15th will be postponed until a later date.
