Assistance being offered to those who suffered livestock, honeybee, and fish losses

Posted: Updated:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency has announced the sign–up for emergency assistance for livestock, honeybees, and farm raised fish.

Farmers, ranchers, and producers may soon be receiving help for any substantial losses due to the drought and other weather events in 2012, 2013, 2014.

The emergency livestock assistance program provides help due to natural disasters that are not typically covered under another program of its type.

USDA County Executive Director Barbara Cross says that the programs are helping those who have suffered losses from any natural disaster, however drought seems to be the primary cause.

"So it's important if these producers need help with their applications or need money for cash flow or just to operate on, that they come in to see us and hopefully we can help them with that.

The application deadline is quickly approaching. Contact your local USDA office for more information on how to apply.
