Scottsbluff man arrested for cutting girlfriend with knife

Posted: Updated:
A Scottsbluff man is facing two felony charges after allegedly cutting his girlfriend with a knife.

23-year-old Michael Carrera was arrested on a warrant earlier this week stemming from an incident first reported on June 20th.

Scottsbluff Police say that Carrera and his girlfriend were driving around the area and then got into an argument. Court documents say that Carrera was "wanting to get some more drugs" and she was "wanting to go to the bar to 'get more drunk'."

The couple then pulled over and Carrera reportedly said, "I swear to god I'm going to slice your (expletive) throat if you don't get me home." Carrera then allegedly placed a knife on her arm and cut her. She was driven to the the hospital, and Carrera fled. Police found blood in the vehicle they were driving in but couldn't find Carrera. He was arrested on a warrant earlier this week.

He is now facing charges of Intentional 2nd Degree Assault and Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony. Carrera is set to be arraigned on the charges at 1:30 this afternoon in Scotts Bluff County Court.
