Thousands of dollars raised by Culver's for Pilger disaster relief

Posted: Updated:

In the wake of a devastating tornado that leveled a small Nebraska community, people and businesses are donating money to help re-build the town of Pilger.
Yesterday, all of Culver's Nebraska locations were selling single scoop cones and dishes for one dollar. All proceeds from those sales are going directly to the Pilger Community Development Fund.

Luke Weighner, the General Manager of the Scottsbluff location says in cases like this, the bottom line isn't as important as the people in need. He says the response from the community to this fundraiser was overwhelming.
"We had people giving donations before the day started." explains Weighner. "We took in quite a bit of money from people saying, 'I can't be there that day-here's some money- can you make sure it gets there' so we took care of it."
A total of 730 dollars was raised at the Scottsbluff location, adding to the thousands of dollars raised at the other Culver's restaurants across the state.
