U.S. Marine from Alliance recovering in Virginia hospital

Posted: Updated:
A former Alliance resident and United States Marine who was seriously injured by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan in June is now recovering at a Virginia Hospital.

Last month, 23-year-old Billy Simmons was traveling in a vehicle with four other men and a military dog when the bomb went off. The explosion killed three men and the dog.

Since the incident, Simmons has been transported to Naval Medical Care in Portsmouth, Virginia.

Billy's father, Steve, says his son is improving a bunch.

Any members of the community who would like to send Billy a card or letter can do so at the following address. The family asks not to send any packages.
