Jury hears full day of testimony in Scottsbluff sex assault case

Posted: Updated:
A jury has heard one full day of testimony against a Scottsbluff man accused of sexually abusing a teenage girl numerous times during a five-year period.

33-year-old Maxiliamo "Max" Cano Samayoa is charged with three counts of 1st Degree Sexual Assault of a Child, and one count of 3rd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child.

Today in court, family members testified about how changes in the victim began to affect her normal self. They said her grades slipped in school and she was no longer hanging out with her friends.

Court documents say that the abuse began when the victim was only 11-years-old, and continued sporadically through the years.

The trial is expected to conclude on Tuesday, and if Cano Samayoa is convicted on all charges he would face a minimum of 60 years of prison.
