The Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office is seeking public assistance in locating a 35-year-old robbery suspect.

Travis Don Leier has been identified as a suspect in a robbery of the "Melbeta All Around" convenience store in Melbeta that was reported on Monday at 3:51 p.m.

During this incident, the suspect attempted to steal a large amount of liquor. He also attempted to forcefully open the cash register by using a pair of pliers but was unsuccessful.

He also threatened the store clerk with the pliers. The suspect left the store and fled on foot with an undetermined number of items. The clerk was not injured. The suspect did leave some personal belongings near the store, which assisted in his identification.

Leier is described as a white male, 6’3, 239 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, last seen wearing a blue shirt and dark shorts. His last known address is Rapid City, South Dakota.

Leier is also considered a suspect in the theft of a blue 2006 Dodge Ram pickup, Nebraska license 21-13096. That vehicle was reported stolen shortly after the incident at the convenience store from a nearby residence.

Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts should contact law enforcement.
