Blue pickup recovered, authorities still search for robbery suspect

Posted: Updated:
KOTA Territory News has learned that the blue 2006 Dodge Ram pickup believed to be stolen by a Rapid City man has been recovered in Bridgeport by the Morrill County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday.

Sgt. Troy Brown with the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff's Department says the vehicle was recovered at a home on Road 109 on the south edge of Bridgeport. Brown says it was then that the suspect, 35-year-old Travis Don Leier, was taken to the Bridgeport Inn by a resident who may not have known about the wanted suspect.

Officials say Leier is believed to be the suspect in Monday’s robbery at ‘Melbeta All Around’ pulled into the yard after blowing a tire of the pickup.

Leier is described as a white male, 6 foot 3 inches tall, weighing 239 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and dark shorts.

Morrill County Sheriff Milo Cardenas believes Leier may still be in the Bridgeport area. He still has the key to his room and left his ID and driver's license there. He is warning residents to lock their vehicles and report anything suspicious. As of Tuesday afternoon, Cardenas says there have been no additional reports of motor vehicle theft.
