Justice for Juliette six years later

Posted: Updated:
Six years after the death of 2–year–old Juliette Geurts, the community still mourns her loss.

Family of Juliette and members of the community gathered last night to pay tribute to her on the sixth anniversary of her death.

Juliette died from blunt force trauma to the abdomen and head. Her death was ruled a homicide, however a trial has still not taken place.

A petition to convene a Scottsbluff Grand Jury received enough signatures to do so.

Juliette's mother Charyse Geurts and boyfriend Dustin Chauncey  were then indicted by the jury on January 15th, 2013.

Juliette's Aunt Monica Hall has helped organize many of the ceremonies and tributes to Juliette.

"It's been six years since the tragic event that took her life and this year is kind of special because we're finally going to have a trial for what happened to her and maybe see some justice for her death," says Hall.

Hall says the support physically from the community and digitally on social media has been overwhelming.
