Chairman says OTD went "fantastic"

Another memorable Oregon Trail Days has come to a close.

The 93rd annual celebration was a success in more ways than one.

Over 700 kids participated in the kiddie parade, 64 teams entered the mud volleyball competition, and over 1,300 people were at the chili cook–off.

Chairman Bill Schlaepfer says if he had to use one word to describe this year's event, it would be "fantastic."

"It went really great," says Schlaepfer. "Had great crowds at all the venues. Had the rains, but they seemed to come after 9:30. Really the only thing it affected was the carnival had to shut down a little bit early. Other than that, everything was great. Had great attendance and everything went smooth."

Schlaepfer says they are already preparing for next year's event.
