Heritage Days begins in Alliance tonight

Posted: Updated:
Panhandle community celebrations continue this week, this time in Alliance for Heritage Days.

Organizers are inviting residents to come out to the city fountain on 10th and Sweetwater near the Snake Creek Walking path for Family Fun Night starting at 5:30 p.m on Tuesday.

Food vendors and non-profit organizations will also be on hand for families to visit.

The Grand Marshal will be crowned starting at 6:00 p.m near the Central Park Fountain Area a 6:00 p.m.

Alliance Chamber Director Susan Unzicker talks about this year's Heritage Days theme.

"Well we decided to go back to the eras. The last three years have been in the 125th celebration so we went back to the eras and we just wanted something short and simple for people to remember so we're in the era of the 50's. So we decided 50's fun," she said.

There's a non-perishable food drive also happening to support the local food pantry. Unzicker invites families to donate for a chance to win a few prizes.

"When you bring in your food we will register you for either $100 in chamber bucks or $100 in carnival tickets," she said.
